
The Toronto Arab Film, an independent, artist-driven film organization committed to showcasing visionary cinema, is offering an exciting internship designed to provide emerging arts workers with hands-on experience in the technical and administrative operations of an independent film festival.
As an intern, your curiosity, initiative, and creative thinking will be valued. Your experience will be expanded through a structured internship that combines mentorship, practical technical training, and direct involvement in festival operations. This opportunity is ideal for emerging arts administrators, future programmers, film exhibition technicians, or young creatives eager to build digital and media-based skills within the independent screen-based arts sector.
Position Details:
The intern will work with and learn from a small and dynamic team—including the Artistic Director & Operations Manager —to:
• Explore the fundamentals of arts administration and festival operations
• Assist with film exhibition workflows, including file management, ingesting materials, converting formats, and creating DCPs
• Support the programming team with festival print traffic organization
• Participate in web development tasks that maintain and improve TAF’s online and digital presence leading up to the festival
• Gain technical knowledge related to digital cinema, exhibition platforms, and festival logistics
Following the internship, interns will have:
• Gained insight into the independent film and media arts sector
• Expanded their professional network
• Developed strategic tools to support future career planning
• Grown artistically through exposure to varied creative practices
• Learned valuable and in-demand digital skills used across film and arts organizations
Candidate Requirements:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the residency;
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (either a citizen, permanent resident or person with refugee status);
- Self-identify as underemployed (i.e. employed below their level of education, holding part-time employment, or in emerging fields with few jobs);
- Have completed post-secondary studies (exception: interns located in Nunavut, Yukon or NWT are not required to meet this criterion);
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Show interest in film, digital tools, and arts administration
- Be detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn new technical systems
Remuneration and Duration
• $35/hour
• 20 hours per week
• Dec. 2025 – March 2026
