TAF2025: Grant Writing for Arts Council

Learn the fundamentals of applying to the various levels of Arts Council funding in this comprehensive workshop. The workshop will cover the elements of the application forms and process. You will learn how to craft an artist statement that best befits your practice and aspirations, as well as crafting feasible work plans and budgets. Finally, you will get an understanding of how to assemble support material to bolster your application.

This practical workshop is designed to demystify the grant writing process, with a specific focus on applications to the Toronto Arts Council (TAC)Ontario Arts Council (OAC), and Canada Council for the Arts (CCA).

This session will guide participants through:

  • Understanding the mandates and priorities of each council
  • Choosing the right grant program for your project
  • Crafting compelling artist statements and project descriptions
  • Developing realistic budgets and timelines
  • Common pitfalls and tips for writing successful applications

Participants will leave with a clearer sense of how to position their work for funding success and how to build a sustainable career through public arts support.

Priority for workshop registration is given to Arab-identifying filmmakers until June 13, 2025. After June 13, 2025, registration is open to all filmmakers.
