We’re excited to announce the Toronto Arab Film’s first screenwriters’ gathering – Story Majlis. ‘Majlis’, an Arabic term denoting, a seating place, a gathering, a council. The idea behind Majlis came out of feedback from Arab writers who felt the need for a space for them to practice their craft with similarly minded filmmakers.

Read on if you are:

  • a filmmaker and/or writer?
  • have an unfinished script? Or a budding idea?

  • interested in feedback on your work and ideas?

This will be a frequently recurring gathering for screenwriters who need a space to bounce ideas off of others or who need dedicated time to write. There will be opportunity to get feedback and give feedback. Most sessions are just for writers to share their stories, experiences and expertise. These are unstructured sessions that are meant to be directed by the participants based on needs and interests. However, once in a while, we will bring in screenwriting experts to guide participants through certain challenges or blocks.
