Her work explores womanhood, youth, memory, migration, and the complex textures of life in Lebanon, often intimately focusing on characters navigating identity and quiet transformation. From fiction to non-fiction, Karel has written and directed a range of films, aiming for her work to feel like a journey rather than a message. Her films have screened at renowned festivals, with one film shortlisted for a BAFTA award. In 2025, Karel finished her debut feature, a non-fiction film, which premiered at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival and received the Special Jury Mention.
